Take a turn off of Highway 290 just southwest of Austin, Texas and drive out into the boonies until you’re sure you’re lost. Not far up a teeth-rattling dirt road that’s sure to test your suspension, popping out of the side of a cedar covered hilltop you might spot one of the most dedicated restoration shops in central Texas.
In my younger days, I thought bigger was better. I wanted to make my small block Chevy 400 scream, so I threw on some giant aluminum heads, a fat cam, and 750cfm Edelbrock carb.
Build it? Buy it? Mod it? We’ll consider all of these options but for our first foray into Drag 101, we want to provide some options for looking exclusively at the LS engine, a staple of the strip.
