Schatz, WOO Community on Jason Johnson’s Passing

After the passing of Jason Johnson, many of the WOO community was in shambles.  Dealing with the loss of a life is different for everyone, especially when it comes to competition. Some people need to take the night or the week off and others feel the need to do what they love to do. The latter was the case for Nine-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Champion Donny Schatz “Once I fired the car, everything made sense again.”

“[Friday] was probably one of the first nights I ever asked myself, when I put this suit on, ‘why?’ And when I hit the fuel switch, it’s the only thing that really cures you. It’s the only place I really feel safe. This is what I love to do. This is what everyone out here loves to do,” an emotional Schatz said.

Ten-time Knoxville Nationals Champion, Schatz led all 25 on the opening night of the Brownells Big Guns Bash to score his 12th World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series victory of the year. Ian Madsen and David Gravel completed the all-Outlaws podium.
