NHRA Unveils 2024 Eight-Race Schedule for Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series

The NHRA has unveiled an exciting eight-race schedule for the 2024 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, featuring a new stop at Woodburn Dragstrip this season. The series, known for its thrilling racing action, will also include two Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals events.

Among the highlights are the nitro-burning Nostalgia Top Fuel dragsters and Nostalgia Funny Cars, which consistently captivate fans at each venue. Defending champions from the remarkable 2023 season include Tyler Hilton (Top Fuel), Bobby Cottrell (Funny Car), and Wayne Ramay (A/Fuel).

NHRA Senior Director of Competition Mike Rice expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, highlighting the series’ debut at Woodburn Dragstrip and the return to Redding after a successful event in the previous year. The expanded schedule introduces new events, promising an exciting 2024 season.

The season kicks off with the Good Vibrations March Meet at Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield, Calif., from February 29 to March 3. Subsequent stops include Firebird Raceway in Boise, featuring the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Opener reserved for Funny Cars on May 17-19.

Returning to Redding Motorsports Park on May 24-25 for Funny Car Fever, the series then heads to historic Beech Bend Raceway Park for the Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals East on June 13-15. August brings a major event at Firebird Raceway with the Nightfire Nationals on Aug. 2-4, followed by the debut at Woodburn Dragstrip for the Summer Nationals on Aug. 24-25.

The penultimate race, Thunder Under the Lights, takes place at Redding Motorsports Park on Sept. 20-21, leading to the season finale at Famoso Dragstrip with the Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals West on Oct. 25-27.

Nostalgia Top Fuel and Nostalgia Funny Car will compete at specific events for championship points, with Group 1 and Group 2 classes adding diversity to the competition. The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, established in 2008, aims to preserve NHRA’s rich history and tradition while providing racing opportunities for enthusiasts who relish nostalgia drag racing competition.
