Hot Rod Power Tour 2014

The 20th anniversary of the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour was a memorable one; 7-days, 7-cities, 1,600+ miles and thousands of the most awesome cars you’ll ever see.

One might think that the cars are the highlight of the tour, but they’re simply a backdrop and a means to meeting some of the coolest people in the industry. There were no Ford versus Chevy arguments (although plenty of Ford fans were hesitant to sign up for our Chevrolet Truck giveaway); if you liked cars, you were one of the crew, and that was that.

Hanging out in a hotel parking lot surrounded by cars and talking shop with fellow gearheads was just as much a part of the experience as caravaning from city to city. This is where friendships are made.

We felt like celebrities as we traveled through the different towns along the tour route. Families came out to see us through, waving hello and enjoying the rolling car show. It was great to see how much joy these cars brought to people both at the venues and on the road.

If you ever had a question about how to do something to a car, this was the place to look for answers. There was a wealth of knowledge as many of the drivers built or restored their cars by themselves and were more than happy to share tips, tricks and lessons learned.

The Hot Rod Power Tour is definitely something that every motorhead must do at least once in their life. It’s a unique experience and opportunity to spend quality time with your family, friends and your car. You’d be hard-pressed to find a nicer group of people to cruise across America with.
