Following two rigorous test sessions, Hight expertly maneuvered the Cornwell Tools Chevy to a swift 3.92-second sprint at a blazing 322 mph, pitted against Cruz Pedregon who clocked in at 3.94 seconds at 320 mph. Hight’s impressive run propelled him to the finals, where he engaged in a showdown with Ron Capps. Maintaining his exceptional performance, Hight delivered yet another consistent 3.92-second dash at a remarkable 325 mph, surpassing Capps’ 3.96 seconds and securing victory in the 46th annual Night Under Fire extravaganza.
In the aftermath of this thrilling event, Hight expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This event is always a source of excitement – for both fans and competitors alike. It’s an opportunity for bragging rights and a boost of confidence from a strong showing.” He further commended his Cornwell Tools team’s dedication and the Bader Family’s exceptional organization, underscoring John Force Racing’s pride in being part of such a phenomenal night and emphasizing the sweetness of victory.
Meanwhile, John Force made his mark in a specially adorned Night Under Fire PEAK Chevy Camaro SS, setting the pace with rapid runs of 3.88 and 3.89 seconds during the testing phases. However, a timing glitch during qualifying led to an annulled run, relegating Force to the secondary bracket. Undeterred, he triumphed over Dale Creasy Jr., securing fifth place with an impressive 3.894-second sprint at a blistering 326 mph, besting Creasy’s 4.11 seconds at 297 mph.
