Ron Capps tied Tony Schumacher for the most NHRA wins in Bristol Dragway history, picking up his sixth Funny Car win at the track on Sunday with his Father’s Day triumph at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.
Interestingly this year, Funny Car focuses pioneer Matt Hagan knocked off Robert Hight in the last round, driving to a great third success of the time on Sunday at the NHRA New England Nationals at a sold-out New England Dragway.
The golden voice of Dave McClelland, beloved by NHRA and other motorsports fans and participants worldwide, has been silenced. McClelland, 85, is said to have passed of natural causes on May 22nd.
This weekend marks the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series’ return to Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) after being unable to compete at the Richmond-area drag strip since 2019.
NHRA’s annual trip to Minnesota and Brainerd International Raceway has gotten a bit more interesting, thanks to Kruckeberg Industries and its D-Wagon product, bringing a FuelTech Pro Mod shootout specialty race to Brainerd this August. This marks the first ever specialty race for Pro Mod, occurring during the 2022 season.

NHRA’s Pro Mod Series has long been a category looking for a sponsor. It’s gone through a few, E3 Spark Plugs being the most notable, but there hasn’t been the proper amount of stickum for one of the most exciting on-track simultaneous displays of horsepower and panache.
Hometown hero and Houston native, Erica Enders got the W at Houston Raceway Park in the first all female final round in NHRA Pro Stock history, picking up the win in front of a sold-out crowd on Sunday at the 35th and final NHRA SpringNationals.
