After a rip-roaring 4th of July weekend, Brad Sweet has now found yet another reason to love the cheese state. Although it was not easy for the newly adopted cheesehead to extend his race wins in the state of Wisconsin, following his sweep at Cedar Lake Speedway last weekend, the defending World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series champion made it look easier in the closing laps of Saturday night’s race. Sweet’s latest victory battle would begin against Mother Nature as a cell of rain and drizzle seemed to loom over Wilmot Raceway’s Badger 40 race.

Once things got under way, Sweet was instantly the man to beat. Starting the night by setting the Slick Woody’s QuickTime, winning his Drydene Heat Race, and placing second in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash race, Sweet’s start in the 40 Lap feature was not quite as rosy. Starting this race on the outside pole alongside the No. 1S of Logan Schuchart, it was a cat and mouse game as the leaders chased each other through lap traffic. Schuchart’s ultimate downfall came just beyond the halfway point when traffic bottled him on the bottom and allowed Sweet to rip the top around him.

While no one else seemed to have the ability to catch Sweet a final lap caution offered the rest of the field one last opportunity to take down the driver that was on everyone’s radar. Despite the chance to make a last-ditch effort, Sweet and his No. 49 Kasey Kahne ride seemed to find a spark in Wisconsin that no one else could dampen.

The win was the 71st of Sweet’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, and it also marked the 50th career victory for his Kasey Kahne Racing Crew Chief, Eric Prutzman. To top it all off Sweet has also racked up 11 total wins in his new favorite state of Wisconsin.

“We love coming to Wisconsin the fans here are incredible,” said Sweet. “They come out and support us at every track, and they come drink beer with us afterwards too. This place is definitely like a second home!”

Now that Sweet has yet another win, he is sure to have the confidence to take on the Month of Money, which begins with the Brad Doty Classic and two Kings Royals (July 13-17) at Eldora Speedway. Stay tuned to RacingJunk.com for the latest news from the dirt!
