U.S. Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) introduced a SAN-supported bill, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, S. 3094, to prohibit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from finalizing emissions standards that would limit consumer choice and require that 67% of vehicles that automakers produce be electric vehicles. S. 3094 is the companion to H.R. 4468, which was introduced by U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) and passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee in July.
The CARS Act prevents future EPA vehicle emissions regulations that would mandate certain technologies or limit the availability of vehicles based on its power source.
