SCCA Launches Campaign to Support Motorsports During Global Crisis

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has launched a campaign to support the hobby, venues and organizations that make up the racing industry during the current pandemic. The campaign is called #SupportMotorsport and is run in partnership with Global Time Attack and Gridlife.

According to the SCCA, the campaign’s goal is to ensure that motorsport venues are protected and preserved. The initiative focuses on three ways to support the industry’s venues and organizations:

1. Enter Events and Buy Tickets

Motorsports has long been a hobby in which people wait on weather or plans before making a purchase. At the moment, though, an entry or a ticket sale is more than it seems; it’s a vote for an event to actually happen. These sales gives track, organizers and sanctioning bodies the support needed to keep tracks rented and events on the schedule.

2. Get Gear

From a t-shirt from your favorite track to a hat from your favorite sanctioning body or a poster from your favorite team, merchandise provides a great way to show support for tracks and those who rent them – you’re showing off your hobby and investing in it at the same time. Keep in mind that many states have designated racetracks as non-essential services, so shipping times may be delayed.

3. Join Clubs

Many motorsports enthusiasts enjoy and appreciate the work of clubs and organizations, both locally and nationally, but have not yet joined any. Now’s the time to do so! Signing up for the local autocross group that you run with a few times a year, or the national organizations that produce the rules and standards for motorsports events helps these clubs plan events, make deposits with tracks and keep staff and volunteers engaged in creating your next motorsports experience.
