Michael Handras Scores Back-to-Back Wins

Celebrating a decade of racing, Michael Handras of Right Trailers Motorsports has achieved back-to-back victories. The Brooklyn native recently dedicated his Super Comp win at the New England Nationals to his father, adding a special touch to his triumph as it coincided with his father’s birthday.

Handras claimed the starting line advantage in the sixth and final round of the New England Nationals for Super Comp, securing his victory. This win marks his second national event win, following his 2022 victory in Super Comp at the Charlotte Zmax Spring Nationals.

Growing up immersed in the world of drag racing, Handras’ passion was ignited early. His family owned the concession stand at Long Island Dragway, where they spent most weekends. His father, initially a grudge racer, eventually ventured into Pro Modified racing with Handras’ uncle. From a young age, Handras was captivated by bracket racing and Super Comp. “I was inspired by my good friend John Murphy Jr’s father, who recently passed away. He had a 1967 Camaro and was an excellent bracket racer. I always hoped to grow up and be like John’s dad, winning races,” Handras said. Fond memories of sneaking away from the concession stand to watch races at ten years old have driven him forward in his racing career.

Handras is grateful for the support from the drag racing community, especially from Right Trailers President, Michael Scott. “Joining Michael Scott and the Right Trailers team has been truly exciting. Being part of such a talented group of racers is a great feeling, especially knowing I’ve been able to secure a couple of wins,” Handras remarked.

He extends his thanks to his sponsors: Right Trailers, Mickey Thompson Tires, VP Racing, Hoopes Fire Prevention, and Shortline Express Market. He also appreciates the support from Duane Shields, John Ausherman, his dad, Kristen and Kyle Tavares, Jessica Eastburn, Gary Pritchett, and Bruce Deveau at “The Racers Mind.”

Looking ahead, Handras will compete at the Virginia Motorsports Park for the Virginia NHRA Nationals in the 2024 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series on June 21-23, 2024.
