Following last weekend’s victory at Knoxville Raceway, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series driver Kyle Larson found his name once again being celebrated at this weekend’s historic race at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN. This time as a team owner, Larson and his driver Carson Macedo were prepared to leave the first live nationally broadcast race, on CBS Sports Network, since 2012 with either a trophy or a wrecked car. While Macedo would be forced to take down reigning champion Brad Sweet in a last lap duel, as fans watched with bated breath all over the world, the driver of the No. 2 Kyle Larson Racing sprint car was able to take his first feature race win of the 2020 season by 0.064 seconds.

Before driving to the checkered flag Macedo, of Lemoore, CA, started on the pole due to his DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash win. With drivers like Jacob Allen and Brad Sweet following behind inside the top 5. Following the wave of the green flag, the Kyle Larson Racing driver darted ahead of the 24-car field. That is until lapped traffic put Macedo at risk from challenges from both Allen and Sweet. After finding himself behind Sweet in the final 11 laps, the young California native was blessed with a caution that gave him a chance to master the high side of the track and drive around the outside of Sweet’s NAPA Auto Parts #49 to reclaim the race lead.

While it seemed like Macedo would drive away for the win, the final lap of this race was sure to have been a real nail biter for the Kyle Larson Racing driver as Sweet snuck underneath Macedo and the two drivers drag raced to the finish line with Sweet inching further alongside Macedo. Despite his every effort, Sweet would fall short by 0.064 sec. margin as Macedo raced to his first victory of the season.

“I wanted this win really bad,” said Macedo. “Sweet definitely made me earn it, which is why I am so glad that my Kyle Larson Racing ride was so incredible throughout this 40 Lap race. It just had a lot of balance and I think that this kept us coming back despite losing ground later in this race.”

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will return to its excitement at Jackson Motorplex, June 25-27, 2020. Stay tuned to for the latest news from the dirt.
