The gear heads over at Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) have taken a C8 Corvette over the 200 mph mark. HPE has been taking cars over the 200 miles per hour mark for years, they understand how to not only make cars fast but stable.
On May 8, 2020, John Heinricy test drove a Hennessey-prepared 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray Z51 (rear spoiler removed) with 650 HP (Hennessey stainless steel exhaust upgrades & 135 HP Nitrous Express system – not twin turbo) to a top speed of 205.1 mph (confirmed by VBox GPS) at the Continental Tires Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas. This is the first C8 Corvette to break the 200 mph mark. For more information please contact us: 979-885-1300 | http://www.HennesseyPerformance.com Hennessey C8 Vehicle Page: http://bit.ly/HPE_C8
“We designed a new stainless-steel exhaust system for the C8 that slightly increases power (20 hp), improves sound and is lighter by around 12 pounds,” said company founder John Hennessey. “We’ve been doing some validation testing and thought that a run over 200-mph would be the ultimate test of performance and durability for our new exhaust system. We also installed a Nitrous Oxide system to bump power to around 650 HP. We are very pleased with the results and we will be releasing our C8 exhaust upgrade in the very near future.”
