The Memories in May Virtual Car Show Contest has officially begun! We would like to thank everyone who submitted, we had so many different entries and so many different types of rides.
So how it works now is, five vehicles will be chosen as “Best in Show” semi-finalists by a panel of judges from RacingJunk.com, and then those five will be turned over to voting by the public to compete for the following prizes:
1963 Ford Galaxie 500 with 289 and 3 speed manual overdrive transmission. Factory power steering and updated power brakes. Great sounding Flowmaster dual exhaust. The interior is completely original and the rust free body has had one repaint.

Dick Trammell - 1974 NASCAR Modified Pinto
427 Chevrolet "Big Block," 4-speed manual, The car was built in CT in the late 1970s and raced by driver Mark Berndt in the NASCAR New England Modified Series. Gary Babineau, Babineau Metal Works, Auburn, IN did a masterful job of converting the car to "street legal." He re-powered it with a 427 Chevy "Big Block." The car has a close-ratio 4-speed transmission, and the original Frankland Quick Change rear end was confirmed and rebuilt by Jamie Frankland in 2019. In the 3 years that I've owned the car, we have never left our neighborhood without the car being videotaped by other motorists or people on sidewalks or sitting outdoors at restaurants. It's the most videotaped, "thumbs-up" vehicle I've ever owned! Always a big hit at Charleston Cars and Coffee.

Larry Van Gelder - 1969 Chevrolet Corvette
479 CID "Merlin Light" aluminum big block, Richmond 6-speed manual, I am the original owner and performed most of the full custom bodywork, as well as the mechanical upgrades myself. It rides on the original, slightly modified frame, modified suspension and Boyd's one-off billet wheels. Four Mikuni carbs converted to throttle bodies feed air for the Holley Commander 950 controlled F.I. through a homemade intake plenum atop a B&M blower. Hidden headlights swing down into the grille opening. It was our "daily" early on, but autocrossed for many years when it was still called "gymkhana" - including on a frozen lake the second week of ownership. Most of the body mods were made in 1978, with the nose changes in 1992. It's now driven nearly every week to car shows & cruise-ins. See more at www.NightwindVette.com. It is NOT and will not ever be for sale.

Jon Oswell - 1941 Willys
It is a Street Beast 2004 kit. I worked on it for 5 years, it has a 9” Ford rear with 3.89 traction lock, also a 4L 80 E trans, a 6.0 LS motor
FASzt fuel injection, with aSniper manifold and 90 MM throttle body. It weighs 3020 lbs. and has external fuel fill and hidden hinges with door poppers. I also installed A/cC unit behind the passenger seat that pushes air up overhead and cools the whole interior, the heater is in the trunk and has an outlet between the power seats.
This car is a daily driver and goes shopping, to jam sessions and local drives almost every day. Thanks for viewing my last hot rod, in a long series.
