Factory Stock Showdown Finale Important for Mopar Racers

In addition to the Camping World Drag Racing Series action at this weekend’s Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, the Constant Aviation Factory Stock Showdown is conducting its season finale. Although the championship was decided in favor of two-time reigning titleholder Aaron Stanfield during the St. Louis NHRA ids west Nationals, there’s plenty of bragging rights to be claimed on this Halloween weekend. Stanfield and his Chevrolet COPO Camaro earned the title with two national event victories and four runner-up results.

This class, made up of Chevrolet COPO Camaros, Dodge Challenger Drag Paks and Ford Cobra Jets are all competing for manufacturer bragging rights, which are still up for grabs. And the balance of the Top 10 are battling for their final positions in the standings at the close on competition on Sunday.

In this grouping lie the trio of Don Schumacher Racing racers. Leah Pruett, who won the first, 2018 championship title in Factory Stock Showdown, together with her teammates Mark Pawuk and David Davies, have been in the title mix throughout the season against massive competition from both Chevy and Ford drivers, with Pruett, currently in fifth place within striking distance of the No. 2 spot. She’s raced to two runner-up finishes this season in Denver and Topeka – and will be sporting Direct Connection livery similar to that on her DSR Top Fuel dragster.

“An FSS Wally at the final race of the season – I couldn’t ask for much more, except maybe a double-up,” Pruett said. “It’s my last shot at it this year and that’s what drives me this weekend and why I feel more determined than ever. Being part of the Dodge and Mopar Drag Pak program and its progression, then seeing the growing number of new Drag Pak entries and their own performance journey, has been truly enjoyable,” she asserted. “To see a new generation of drivers choose Mopar Drag Pak as their weekend warrior or fierce piece of weaponry is outstanding.”

Pawuk, a Pro Stock and FSS veteran, has been a consistent Top 10 competitor and is looking to close out his season with a win in his Empaco Equipment Drag Pak. After qualifying second and going to the semifinals at St. Louis, Pawuk said, “We’ve made a lot of gains in the last month since we debuted our new 2021 Drag Pak, and hopefully we can continue that path.” Davies, who is racing in this series is also the CEO of series sponsor Constant Aviation.

“We’ve had a full month off since St. Louis, and I’m excited about heading into Vegas with the momentum we have behind us. Any time in Vegas is a good time, especially at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” Davies said. “We’ve improved at every event this year, and the Vegas Nats will be no different. We’ve made some adjustments during our time off and we expect that trend to continue.”

Qualifying begins for Factory Stock Showdown on Friday at 2PM, with two more rounds on Saturday at 11AM and 6PM, with final eliminations beginning around 8:30AM. The finals are expected to take place shortly after 4PM with this event televised nationally on FS1 from 5-8PM EDT.
