The Detroit Auto Show is returning for the first time in three years, with a chance for attendees to drive a Ford Bronco, win a 2023 Corvette Z06 and learn more about emerging technologies, i.e. electric vehicles.
After three years, The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), otherwise known as the Detroit Auto Show is returning. Held at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, the promoters aim to not only embrace new makes and models, but celebrate motor city to the fullest. According to the press announcement from NAIAS, “this year’s auto show is also being designed with a community-wide focus and an eye on the rich diversity that makes Detroit the perfect host city for this global mobility show. Auto show organizers are working with the Downtown Detroit Partnership to offer robust programming and entertainment free of charge to the community at downtown area parks.”
Ford kicks off the proceedings with The Stampede on September 14 a celebration of the original pony car, the Ford Mustang, that culminates in the global reveal of the new Mustang at 8 p.m. EDT. Auto Show attendees who miss the reveal will still get to see the vehicle on display at the show.
NAIAS will also feature the latest in emerging technology and mobility, including a whole range of electric vehicle options, plus the latest and greatest in power and performance from the big names in auto technology. A trend towards off-roading continues to dominate the auto industry, even as Dodge announces electric muscle cars and the Z06 dominates headlines.

Some of that programming takes guests off-road while remaining inside, including Ford’s Built Wild® Drive Track, Stellantis’ Camp Jeep, and a Dinosaur encounter involving a showcase of off-road vehicles transported to the Mesozoic era. The Flintmobile, which will also be on display in another area, should fit right in. Rides in the new Ford F-150 Lightening will be available, as will the chance to see professional drivers navigate rocky terrain on RAM Mountain, a 13-foot high, 30-foot long course element with 30-degree approach and departure angles.
For those more invested in street vehicles, a Ride-and-Drive street course along a portion of the 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix downtown circuit will also provide insight into some of the coolest power on the market.
The auto show will also feature a chance for enthusiasts to win one of the most-sought-after high-performance vehicles out there and do something good while entering the contest: the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) are raising money for the DADA Education Foundation Sweepstakes by offering a chance to win a 2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible 70th Anniversary Edition, a 2022 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye or a 2022 Bronco Raptor.
Free family activities throughout the city will also highlight the show, including a giant rubber duck which represents Michigan’s lakes and waterways, a Monster Truck throw down, a gaming lab, air mobility show, food trucks, themed days, music from local artists and vehicle displays from local car shows.
The Detroit Auto Show will be open to the public September 17 – 25, 2022.
