Unfortunately, due to unforeseen weather Speed Week, 2022 is canceled. Heavy rain bombarded the slat flats causing major flooding causing organizers to call off the event.
“Due to unforeseen weather conditions Speed Week 2022 is officially cancelled,” a statement published to Facebook from the SCTA read. “We are doing our best to recover what we can find out on the lakebed.”
This is not the first time the event has been canceled. Speed freaks will remember that in 2014 and in 2015, the event was canceled due to flooding.
