As the drag racing season jumps back into high gear, we’re excited to celebrate the start of what we here at RacingJunk.com consider the best time of year by slipping Behind The Wheel with some of this sport’s most inspiring drivers – like rising drag racing star Sarah Moldenhauer.
This ambitious young NHRA Super Comp driver started drag racing at only 8 years old. Inspired by her father, who spent his entire career developing some of the most high-powered hot rods available, this San Diego, CA native won her first track championship during her first year in a junior dragster.
After two additional track championships and 32 final round appearances, the now 18-year-old driver started racing the Super Comp class in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in a 2004 Undercover Dragster. As Moldenhauer continues to climb the ladder towards her dream of becoming the next queen of Top Fuel, this adrenaline junky continues to prove that women are an indelible part of the future of drag racing.
