The NTT INDYCAR SERIES revealed the first part of its 2027 schedule a few months ago, but waited until mid-October to reveal the balance of a 17-race schedule for next year.
With eight events announced in August, the initial competitions pretty much mirrored this year’s schedule, starting with the Streets of St. Petersburg (March 7), the Phoenix Raceway mile oval on March 13 and Streets of Arlington (Texas) a week later, March 21. There are two events in April, with the natural road course at Barber Motorsports Park taking place April 4 and the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach set for April 18.
From there, the Indy cars alight to the midwest and Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the month of May, with the road course race on May 15 and the 111th Indianapolis 500 May 30. The final race initially announced takes place the week after Indianapolis on the downtown Streets of Detroit, June 6.
The second phase of this schedule brings the Indy cars to World Wide Technology Raceway’s oval on June 13 and then to Elkhart Lake and Road America on June 27. There are two races in July: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hosts the Indy cars on July 4th and then it’s time to take on a new venue – in Europe – as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES heads for its reigning titleholder’s home country, Span and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on July 18. This is purportedly a 10-year agreement with the country and the track, unlike this year’s Freedom 250, which was, apparently, a one-and-done event in the U.S.’s capital city, Washington, D.C.

After recovering from its first overseas trip in many years, the Indy cars head to Portland International Raceway to start the month of August, with that race held August 1. The Streets of Markham, Ontario, Canada are next up August 15 for the second year, while the Milwaukee Mile hosts a doubleheader for the second straight year, taking place August 28-29. The 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season concludes in Monterey, California for the 13th time, racing on the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca undulating road course on September 5.
The Freedom 250 isn’t the only venue missing from this coming year’s schedule. There won’t be an event in the Nashville area next year, as confirmed before the schedule was released. For the past three years, INDYCAR has raced on the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway, after two years competing on the streets of Nashville. Promoter Scott Borchetta hopes to bring the series back to downtown Nashville rather than returning to the speedway, he said.
All INDYCAR races are broadcast on the FOX network and this series is the sole major American motorsports entity to have every event shown on network television, rather than streaming or cable. FOX adds two days of Indy 500 qualifying to its race scheduling as well as Carb Day coverage on the Friday before the 500.
Mark Miles, Penske Entertainment Corp. president and CEO is bullish on the series’ future and its current state: “The 2027 season will build off a record-shattering and landmark year for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. The sport’s growth has been immense, driving incredible viewership gains, reaching new fans in younger demos and attracting increased commercial interest from emerging and long-term partners. Our relationship with FOX,” he stated, “continues to set an industry standard, and this schedule will help us build on all of those gains and take things to the next level.”
The Spanish race, an inaugural INDYCAR Grand Prix of Barcelona brings American racing to Spain for the first time and represents a homecoming for reigning, five-time champion Alex Palou, 29, of Chip Ganassi Racing. This event marks the first international venue since 2013, when James Hinchcliffe won on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil. INDYCAR’s most recent European contest came in 2007, when the late Justin Wilson won the Bavaria Champ Car Grand Prix on the TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands.
