When the two words ‘Callaway’ and ‘Corvette” come together, it can mean only only thing–speed. The C12 Callaway Corvette was introduced tin 1998 and was developed and tested by Callaway and IVM, a German engineering company. The Callaway Corvette’s were made for people that wanted that little extra oomph with their Corvettes.
The C12 had a couple options when it came to engines, it was either equipped with a 6.2 Liter V8 motor, or a tuned version of the 5.7 Liter LS1 used in the Corvette C5 with multiple under-hood alterations, many of which increased horsepower. The body work was put together using a mixture of fiberglass, carbon fiber, and even Kevlar. The C12 Corvette also received modifications that enhanced the suspension and handling. According to Callaway, the C12’s were built “to a standard rather than a cost” customers such as as Dale Earnhardt Jr. lined up to purchase the full reworked Corvette.
