The announcement came just a few days for the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas — The Aeromotive Group and Roadster Shop were joining forces. Under the banner of The Roadster Shop, the legendary aftermarket Aeromotive Group which already owned Aeromotive Fuel Systems, Waterman Racing Components, JBA Performance Exhaust, Doug’s Headers, Patriot Exhaust, Taylor Cable, PerTronix Ignition Products, Compu-Fire, and Spyke was merging with the famous chassis company and custom build shop. It was a surprise for the industry, and the ripples were still being felt as the 2023 SEMA Show opened.
Aeromotive and Roadster Shop both had booths at SEMA, and everyone seemed a little shell-shocked, in a good way, which just prepping for the largest aftermarket tradeshow can do anyway. Aeromotive was showcasing ”
RacingJunk had a chance to speak to the new CEO, Laurent Potdevin, about the vision behind the merger and what it means for the company and the industry in general. The emerging emphasis on leading with The Roadster Shop as the umbrella allows all of the other brands to become aspirational in the same way the Roadster Shop brands are, something that makes a lot of sense. Racers and performance enthusiasts are already familiar with, and loyal to, Aeromotive, Pertronix, JBA and the other brands under the banner, but this merger allows people to conceptualize a build that not only looks amazing, on a one of a kind chassis, but now can bring with it the best in performance technology.
