RacingJunk.com and the Super Cup Stock Car Series are bringing grassroots stock car racing back to West Virginia’s historic Ona Speedway this weekend.
After a summer filled with postponements and cancellations, Super Cup Stock Car Series (SCSCS) competitors are more than ready to get back on the racing surface. This weekend, they’ll have the perfect opportunity to do just that as the SCSCS returns to Ona Speedway, West Virginia’s only asphalt short track.

Ona Speedway has been part of the Super Cup Stock Car Series story for much of its 19-year history, and Saturday’s event promises to add another memorable chapter. The 7/16-mile oval returned to the SCSCS schedule last year following a 12-year absence, with “ShoTime” Mike capturing both races.
This year, however, the spotlight may belong to the Harrison family.
For the first time in series’ history, three generations of one racing family are scheduled to compete against one another. Two-time SCSCS champion and former Ona track champion Harvey Harrison will return to the facility nearly a decade after his last Late Model start there, joining son Brian Harrison and grandson Logan Harrison.
Harvey knows exactly what it takes to get around Ona. He won a memorable 100-lap SCSCS feature at the track in 2012, using patience to navigate the tricky oval. His most recent SCSCS appearance at Ona in 2013 was also a family affair, with two of his sons and a nephew competing alongside him.
Now, a third generation will join the family pit area with a third car.
Logan Harrison, a West Virginia teenager who is set to make his Super Cup Stock Car Series debut. Logan recently completed approximately 100 laps during a successful test at Franklin County Speedway in Virginia and has been waiting for his opportunity to finally take the green flag.
Logan isn’t the only Harrison looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. His father, Brian, plans to debut a newly prepared car at a track that holds special significance for him. Ona is where Brian got his start in Late Model racing, although his last visit to the facility was long enough ago that even he expects the track may have changed.
West Virginia Racers Ready to Shine
Eric Barber, who finished third in the 2025 SCSCS championship standings, is expected to return to the driver’s seat after sitting out the 2026 season to this point. The Parkersburg, West Virginia, competitor lives roughly two hours from Ona, making Saturday’s race an important home-state opportunity.
Larry Frame is also entering the weekend with momentum. Frame is coming off a fourth-place finish at Orange County Speedway, matching his career-best SCSCS result. He previously earned a fourth-place finish at Ona last season and is becoming increasingly comfortable with the equipment and the demanding nature of the series.
Frame has also been working closely with Petersburg, West Virginia, racer Brent Nelson and Nelson’s brother, Rocky, to improve his setup and lap times. While Brent won’t be able to make the trip this weekend, his experience and guidance have helped Frame continue to find speed.
And then there’s the championship leader.
Chrissy Wallace enters Ona on a four-race winning streak and sits atop the SCSCS championship standings. Saturday will be Wallace’s first visit to the multi-purpose property, which includes the racetrack, a private airstrip and an RC flying field.
Wallace has also been leaning on Harvey Harrison for advice as she prepares to tackle another unfamiliar configuration.
“Ona is a flat track,” Harrison explained to SCSCS’s Aaron Creed. “It’s going to take a little different setup, but we’re all really looking forward to it.”
NASCAR Names Add Even More Star Power
While the three-generation Harrison battle is one of the weekend’s biggest stories, the Super Cup Stock Car Series lineup has even more star power.
Five-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Jeremy Mayfield is planning to compete at Ona. Mayfield enters the weekend with plenty of momentum after his most recent SCSCS appearance at Carteret County Speedway in June, where he earned the Pole Award and finished runner-up in both races.
And Mayfield won’t be the only Wallace joining the action.
Following the opening race Saturday night, fans will have an opportunity to meet Chrissy Wallace, her father and NASCAR veteran Mike Wallace, along with Mayfield during an autograph session in the general admission area.
For fans, that’s a pretty impressive lineup for a grassroots Saturday night at a 7/16-mile short track.

You can have championship contenders, young drivers making their first starts, multiple generations of the same family competing together and former NASCAR stars all sharing the same racetrack.

A Full Night of Racing at Ona Speedway
The action begins Saturday afternoon, with pit gates opening at 1:00 p.m. The Super Cup Stock Car Series Gen-4 style machines will have two 15-minute practice sessions beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by qualifying at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. for the RECO Products Kids Night, with general admission just $15 and children 12 and under admitted free.
The National Anthem and Juice Box features for the kids will lead into the night’s racing program at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The Super Cup Stock Car Series will headline the show with the first of two Putnam County Bank 40-lap main events, while seven additional local divisions round out a packed night of grassroots racing.
From a championship battle and a four-race winning streak to a three-generation family racing together and NASCAR stars returning to short-track competition, there is plenty of reason to make Ona Speedway the destination this Saturday.
