Ringbrothers Unleashes “UNCAGED” – a Rad 1965 Mustang Convertible Restomod

Click Here to Begin Slideshow The Ringbrothers Return with a Custom 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Named "UNCAGED." As a companion piece to its sibling "CAGED," which made its debut in August 2022, "UNCAGED" represents a subtle reimagining of Ford's iconic pony car, the 1965 Mustang. While retaining the classic design elements that have made it an American icon, "UNCAGED" has undergone significant alterations. The original 1965 Ford Mustang convertible has been transformed, with only the wheel center caps remaining as the sole factory components. The body of the car has been subtly widened by an inch on both sides, and Ringbrothers have crafted one-of-a-kind pieces, including redesigned Mustang taillight bezels, side scoops, and running horse emblems, to ensure proper proportions. The fenders blend seamlessly into lowered and extended rocker panels, and the front bumper has been carefully tucked and paired with a completely custom front valance. Jim Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers, remarked, "UNCAGED lives up to its name by blending modern power and handling within a classic shape that feels at home on today's streets. Every aspect of this build has been thoroughly reimagined. It's lower, meaner, and combines tradition with modernity throughout the bodywork and cabin." The exterior boasts a BASF Glasurit "Burgundy Brave" finish, and all the chrome and stainless-steel trim has been treated with Cerakote Titanium C-105P. A redesigned front grille, recessed by two inches, feeds air to a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 crate engine, producing 460 horsepower at 7,000 RPM and 420 ft-lbs of torque at 4,600 RPM. The power is channeled through Ford's 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission. The fully custom bodywork includes custom-built floor pans integrated into the Roadster Shop FAST TRACK chassis, creating a custom unibody structure that significantly enhances the driving experience. Handling is optimized with Penske Racing Shocks RS Edition performance coilovers at the front and rear, an independent rear suspension, and Baer Brakes for stopping power. The Mustang firmly grips the road thanks to Continental tires mounted on unique 18-inch EVOD Industries wheels that pay homage to the iconic Rally wheels of the Mustang. Inside, "UNCAGED" features a completely new interior designed by Sean Smith Designs and installed by Steve Pearson at Upholstery Unlimited. The cabin includes custom instrumentation by Dakota Digital and a bespoke steering wheel that pays tribute to the Mustang's original interior. The result is a cabin that maintains stylistic consistency, softening and smoothing brightwork while simultaneously exuding more aggression, refinement, and grace. Mike Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers, added, "With UNCAGED, we expanded on our prior experience building CAGED to create something similar but also entirely unique. In total, we spent over 4,000 hours shaping and refining this build, and we're grateful for our trusted partners Gentex, BASF, Motul, GFS, Heat Shield Products, Miller Welding, Painless Wiring, and others for supporting us in bringing this car to life." Ringbrothers also offers various billet-aluminum parts, carbon-fiber elements, billet steering wheels, side-marker light bezels, and more for enthusiasts looking to customize their own Mustangs.
