The Burnout wants to bring a little pizzazz to your weekend now that we’re nearing the end of racing season, so to that end we’re introducing the “Pinup of the Week.” Every Friday we’ll feature a lovely pinup girl courtesy of photographer Mitzi Valenzuela, whose work most readers have been avidly appreciating since The Burnout launched nearly a year ago.
This week we present: Emily Sherer

“The last four years of my life have definitely been some of the most exciting. The experiences of being a modern day pin up and getting elbow deep with a group of people in the automotive and drag race culture is something that I will find satisfying probably for the rest of my life!
“I initially fell into my modeling career by taking photos of cars at shows and races such as the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona,Cal., as well as the Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield. My upbringing as my Dad’s one and only has probably led to my addiction of enjoying the smell and sting in my eyes of race fuel and the collection of metal flake car colored nail polishes I have at home. For the remainder of my hopefully long life, I’ll always see automotive events being a part of it. I’d prefer a ’55 Nomad as my glorified “mom” car, and with the relationship I’ve established with Mooneyes, I’m having no problem staying Moon equipped most days!
“My favorite part of all of this modeling has been the connections and relationships I’ve built with various companies and builders, as well as the photographers such as Mitzi. There are so many doors that have led to once in a lifetime opportunities like going to the SEMA show, working with people from Japan, and getting to touch and sit in cars that were Ed Roth creations. It catches me off guard to realize that I’ve met so many of my automotive idols . I’m thankful for the kindness and good-hearted people who’ve welcomed and given me the opportunity to promote their companies and photograph with their rides.
“One goal of mine is to inspire future generations of ladies to be proud of being “car girls” and never being ashamed of being a lady in a man’s world. There’s nothing that makes me smile more than when all the people who’ve known me since I was little being drug around in a wagon at the Pomona Swapmeet can look at a car magazine and find me all grown up smiling back at them! It also melts my heart when young girls run over to me at events and shows and ask for a photo; it’s like being a modern Disney princess!! And I still wonder why they’d want a picture with me, I’m just a gal that loves cars and being an everyday Pin Up. One thing that makes me easy to spot at shows is my 10 year old fur kid who tends to tag along to shows I attend and he’s been known to ham it up for photos as well. My Catahoula Lobo dog seems to love the drags as well as I do! So if you happen to be somewhere and see a girl and her dog simply enjoying the show, don’t hesitate to come over and say hello!!! If I could take a few words to thank everyone who’s helped me along the way , it would most likely eat up a whole 3 pages !!! But I haven’t forgotten a single one of you ! Xoxo”
