NHRA Summit Racing Series Titles Will be Decided in Las Vegas

This upcoming weekend’s penultimate race for NHRA’s Mission Foods Drag Racing Series on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway also includes the season finale for the Congruity Pro Mod Drag Racing Series and the crowning of NHRA Summit Racing Series world championships.

The latter battles come down to 32 standouts in NHRA’s Summit Series attempting to win world titles in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle classes in the October 31-November 2 Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection.

Summit Racing Series’ “Road to Vegas” has featured eight exceptionally competitive E.T. Finals across NHRA’s seven divisions and for NHRA’s Canadian competitors, crowning E.T. Finals winners and setting the stage for  this upcoming world championship battle north of Sin City.

For the first time in Summit Racing Series history, each champion will receive $6,000, while runners-up in each class earn $2,000, with semifinalists gaining an extra $500. Along with this new purse, each championship winner gets a National Championship Wally trophy, a championship jacket and added prizes, NHRA said. The Summit Series championship includes dragsters, roadsters, sedans, coupes and motorcycles.

“It was a fantastic season in the NHRA Summit Series,” declared Jim Greeenleaf, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports and Events Manager. “We’re extremely excited to see world champions decided in Las Vegas. There continues to be incredible growth and participation in this series, extending to the first E.T. Finals in Canada this year.

“Everyone at Summit Racing Equipment is thrilled to be part of this amazing program with so many talented drivers,” he continued. “The new team aspect to this year’s championship is an added bonus for racers, and we look forward to another huge weekend in Las Vegas.”

The team championship is a first-time endeavor. It includes all seven NHRA divisions and a Canadian team. Team points are accumulated by round wins, and the winning team earns $2,000. There will also be the opportunity to win a piece of an extra $2,000 in bonus awards on-track during the weekend.

The festivities begin with a welcome diner on Thursday,Octobrt 30, featuring a chip draw for the first four positions, who then may call out the remaining drivers to set their first-round matchups. There are special prizes and experiences ready to raffled off during the welcome dinner. These include: a chance to warm up Daniel Wilkerson’s SCAG Ford Mustang Funny Car; joining Top Fuel standout Clay Millican’s crew, including a ride-along with his crew during a qualifying run; a VIP experience with the Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle team; a VIP tour of the KB Titan Racing Pro Stock team, hosted by Greg Anderson.

All of the Summit Racing finalists have marquee access during Top Fuel and Funny Car qualifying sessions at this Las Vegas race, along with a parade in front of the grandstands and introductions during pre-race official ceremonies.

“When it comes to bracket racing within the NHRA, this is the pinnacle,” NHRA Sportsman Manager Jason Galvin stated. “To earn a trip to Las Vegas means you were the best of the best in your division and, for the first time, in Canada as well. We look forward to celebrating these racers all weekend, not just the four who will hold their Wally [trophies] on Sunday, but the other 28 who fought for the right to be here and earned the VIP treatment NHRA and Summit Racing Equipment will provide over the course of four great days in Las Vegas.”

During the 2024 campaign for Summit E.T. Series championships, Zach Meziere (Division 6) was the Super Pro winner, Alvie Merrill (Division 4) took Pro honors, C.W.
