NHRA isn’t afraid to try something new. Next fall the premier drag racing organization in the United States will show off its stars of all four Mission Foods Drag Racing Series classes with the Peach State NHRA Showcase of Speed on the South George Motorsports Park dragstrip.
The two-day exhibition, first of its ilk, will take place at the Valdosta, Georgia track on Friday and Saturday, October 24-25, 2025. This will be an invitational event, with a pair of drivers from Top Fuel, two Funny Car stars, four competitors from both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. As the first such event, it’s likely to entice interest from everyone in the pits, as the track in Valdosta is known for its good weather at that time of year.
The Peach State NHRA Showcase of Speed takes place two weeks after the 40th annual NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex and one week prior to the penultimate race on the schedule, the NHRA Nevada Nationals on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Valdosta track is a favorite for testing and some of the invitees might consider it a tune-up for the final two races of the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.
“We have been working behind the scenes for a couple of months now, as we collaborated with NHRA on all the details for this amazing event,” said South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) owner Raul Torres. “Our community and the state of Georgia deserve an event of this caliber,” he declared.
“We will be surprised if tickets do not sell out as we are limiting the ticket sales to make sure our guests get the best possible experience. We are bringing all the big names in the industry, and this will be a weekend to remember for a long time. Our family,” Torres stressed, “cannot be prouder of our team that has helped us elevate SGMP to the next level. Now it is our fans’ turn to enjoy themselves at one of the elite events in the Southeast.”

SGMP is being advised by Bill Bader, whose family runs the exquisite Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH. That track’s Night Under Fire is one of the most popular exhibition events in straight-line racing. The advice Bader and his crew can give Torres and his family will help them gain success with this new program.
The names of the 14 participants will be released in the coming weeks. Fans should expect major NHRA stars, current champions and longtime standouts to take part. More details, including run of show, added classes and special attractions should be announced shortly.
The objective of this first non-points-paying exhibition is bringing elements of a national event to an NHRA Member Track, thereby showcasing both the facility for future possibilities, as well as giving local fans the experience of NHRA championship drag racing, the major players and the ability to witness 330-mph-plus competition. The event also serves to bring both nitro and Pro Stock competition to new race markets.

Glen Cromwell, NHRA president, was extremely excited about the prospect of racing any SGMP next October. “This is a tremendous new event” he said, “that we’re thrilled to present to our race tress, fans and sponsors for the 2025 season. It’s exciting to have South Georgia Motorsports Park as our host for the first-ever Peach State NHRA Showcase of Speed. It’s a fantastic facility and I think our fans in that areas will really look forward to the chance to see this type of racing from our professional categories. It’s an incredible way,” he stressed, “to showcase our nitro racing in markets that don’t currently have it and it also gives us a chance to grow and possibly create new opportunities for the future.”
Tickets for this event are already available by contacting https://nhra.evenue.net/list/SCSG. SGMP, located just outside of Valdosta, has long drawn strong local participation and its fans are loyal. These facts made this facility an ideal choice to host the first ever Peach State NHRA Showcase of Speed.
