NHRA sets 2025 specialty Class Schedules

NHRA’s specialty classes have formalized their 2025 schedules. Fan favorites like the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, NHRA Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown™, NHRA Holley EFI Factory X, Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock and Pingel Top Fuel Motorcycle categories will be on the docket at several NHRA National events throughout 2025.

The 10-race campaign for the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series gets underway as the full NHRA season begins, with the 55th NHRA Gatornationals on Gainesville Raceway’s dragstrip. The tour then alights to the NHRA Arizona Nationals, following a successful first venture at Firebird Motorsports Park last season. Pro Mod’s regular season continues at Charlotte’s four-wide spring race, then on to Chicago, Bristol, with Pro Mod’s final regular season race in Richmond.

Pro Mod’s Road to the Championship playoffs start at the 71st Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals on Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis, followed by fall events at Charlotte and St. Louis. NHRA crowns its Pro Mod titleholder at the fall Las Vegas race, as it did this year. The big question to be answered in this class is whether reigning 2024 champ Jordan Lazic can go back-to-back? Or will a new titleholder claim the championship in 2025?

NHRAs ultra-competitive Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown™ class saw veteran Mark Pawuk earn the 2024 title in 2024; it was his first championship in the category. On the docket for 2025 are eight events, starting in Gainesville this coming March. From there, the Showdown competes at the Charlotte four-wide spring event, then goes to Chicago, Bristol and Norwalk. Factory Stock Showdown takes part in the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis and joins the Mission Foods classes in Reading at Maple Grove Raceway before wrapping their campaign in St. Lieu’s at the NHRA Midwest Nationals.

While there NHRA Holley EFI Factory X division made its real debut at the 2023 U.S. Nationals, the class’ first full season came last year. The full sophomore season starts at the spring race on zMAX Dragway at Charlotte and continues for an eight-race campaign. Stops will include Chicago, Richmond, Norwalk, and a return to the Ul.S. Nationals in Indy, as well as racing at Reading and in St. Louis. Factory X will complete its schedule in Dallas this year, where the NHA FallNationals is joining Texas Motorplex’s 40th anniversary season. The 2024 Factory X champion, veteran Greg Stanfield, joins Elite Motorsports’ team in Pro Stock for the 2025 campaign.

Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Mountain Motor Pro Stock class has long been a fan favorite, with its big engines producing big speeds and sporting the requisite hood scoops. The class became an official class for the 2024 season; Johnny Pluchino earned the championship. This year, Mountain Motor Pro Stock expands to eight races, beginning at Charlotte with the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in late April. The series continues in Epping,  Bristol and Norwalk – a busy month of June – and then competes at Brainerd International Raceway in August. It has a pair of September dates in Reading and returns to Charlotte before crowning a champion in St. Louis.

Finally, the Pingel Top Fuel Motorcycle division again faces a four-race campaign, starting in Chicago at the Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 Nationals presented by PEAK Performance, continuing to Richmond, Brainerd and the Charlotte fall race. World champ and fan-favorite Larry “S[iderman” McBride intends to repeat his record-breaking runs on his motorcycle, looking to produce speeds in excess of 200mph.
