NHRA and its broadcast partner, FOX Sports have set their television schedule for the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, a 21-race campaign that begins at the 54th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. the second weekend of March next year.
All of the series races, including the two Pep Boys All-Star Callout races, are set to show on either FOX or FS1, including eight broadcasts on the free-to-air FOX broadcast network. The action begins at the Gators, which will air on FOX; eliminations will start on FOX at 12 noon ET on Sunday, March 12th.
For the third consecutive season, FOX will air a race in the six-contest Countdown to the Championship, adjacent to a FOX NFL broadcast in September. That race is yet to be determined, but will be either the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals at historic Maple Grove Raceway outside Reading, PA or the NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX DRAGWAY adjacent to Charlotte, NC.
The initial All-Star Callout for Top Fuel combatants airs on FS1 before FOX begins its coverage of eliminations in Gainesville; other FOX-centric broadcasts include Norwalk the final weekend of June, the entire Western Swing of Denver, Seattle and Sonoma (in that order this season). FOX will also broadcast the Brainerd finals, but not the complete Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals, which has dual coverage from both FOX and FS1. All remaining races are set for FS1, with re-airs on FS2.
NHRA and FOX began their partnership in 2016 and signed a multiyear extension in 2021 that includes expanded coverage, the NFL adjacent event coverage during the Countdown to the Championship, and five hours of Monday’s final round coverage of the NHRA U.S. Nationals over the Labor Day weekend each year.
FOX Sports and NHRA have scheduled NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series broadcasts, as well as shows featuring the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by D-Wagon. This coverage will span the FOX Sports networks. NHRA races are also scheduled to appear in Canada and the Caribbean through FOX Sports Racing, as well as through the FOX Sports app.
