An Australian pinup, Bow Dacious is part of the vintage drag racing scene and was crowned Miss Classic Cooly Rocks On.

Bow Dacious is an Australian pinup from the Gold Coast, Queensland, whose passion for retro style, classic cars, and the thunder of vintage drag racing has made her a familiar face on the nostalgia scene. On my recent trip to Oz, I was invited to capture Australia’s answer to VLV, a beachside nostalgia festival called Cooly Rocks On.

“Cooly” hosts a three-round pinup pageant that is widely considered Australia’s most prestigious pinup competition. Bow Dacious was crowned Miss Classic Cooly Rocks On. The pageant sees twelve finalists take to the stage, with six competing in the Classic category and six vying for the title of Miss Rockabilly.

During the competition, Bow shared her Italian heritage with the audience and judges, taking them on a journey through fashion, language, food, and history. Her outfits reflected the colours of the Italian flag, beginning with a custom jade green day dress, followed by a true vintage white 1940s sundress, and culminating in a show-stopping red taffeta ball gown from 1956 that she made herself.

Bow Dacious and her Rockabilly counterpart, Miss Heather Lee (also from the Gold Coast), will be heading to Viva Las Vegas 30 to experience all that Viva has to offer.

Away from the track and the stage, Bow has built a career in interior design, where creativity and attention to detail are at the heart of everything she does. Whether she’s cheering on racers, posing beside a hot rod, or dressed head to toe in impeccable vintage style, Bow prioritises championing those around her and being a positive force within the pinup community.
