The Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway on May 19-21 will host this thrilling event after a four-year hiatus.

The Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, which debuted this season, skipped the four-wide races in April but is back in full force in Chicago. This challenge brings new participants, a defending champion, and introduces an entirely new category, promising intense competition during Saturday qualifying.

The challenge offers a bonus purse and bonus points for the Countdown to the Championship. It features a rematch of the semifinalists from Pomona in the nitro class and from Gainesville in Pro Stock Motorcycle, with the winners advancing to the finals. The challenge has injected a new level of excitement into Saturday qualifying, and fans in Chicago will have the opportunity to witness it for the first time.

Justin Ashley can become the first repeat winner in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge. After sweeping everything in Pomona, he aims to replicate his success. Ashley, who qualified No. 1, won the race, and triumphed in the special challenge on Saturday, will face Antron Brown in the semifinals in Chicago. The other rematch features a teammate vs. teammate battle between Austin Prock and defending world champion Brittany Force.

Ashley expressed his excitement for the fans and the teams by reflecting on his victory in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge at the Winternationals. He emphasized the opportunity to gain valuable championship points early in the season. Ashley remains focused on his team’s performance, regardless of the opponent in the other lane, and is determined to win back-to-back Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenges.

In Chicago, the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge will feature 12 competitors across three classes: Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Notably, Pro Stock Motorcycle will also participate in the challenge, presenting a unique opportunity for four standout riders. Gaige Herrera, the current points leader, aims to continue his dominant start, having won both races in the class this year. His semifinal opponent from Gainesville, Jianna Evaristo, will seek revenge in Chicago. Another intriguing matchup features Angie Smith, a standout rider, against rookie Chase Van Sant.

In the Funny Car category, Matt Hagan faces Terry Haddock, who surprised many with a series of upsets in Pomona, reaching the semifinals. Haddock aims for another impressive performance in Chicago, while Hagan has enjoyed a strong start to his 2023 campaign. As the points leader, Hagan has already secured three victories, including a win against Haddock in the Pomona semifinals.

Defending world champion Ron Capps, who Hagan defeated in the Pomona finals, has a chance for redemption at Route 66 Raceway. However, before a potential rematch, Capps must overcome Bob Tasca III, whose car has shown impressive capability early in the season.

Winners in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge earn bonus points, adding to the excitement. Each challenge winner receives three bonus points, while the runner-up gets two points, and the quickest losing semifinalist earns a point. These additional points significantly incentivize race teams to strive for victory in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge in Chicago.

Qualifying for the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway begins on Friday, May 19, at 5 p.m. CT, followed by qualifying sessions.
