You have heard his voice on our Behind The Wheel podcast and now you get to see your and our talented friend Chris Young in a whole new role – as a drag racer. During last weekend’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals the man who loves to help us tell other drivers stories got to experience for himself what it is like to take on the Gainesville Raceway quarter-mile dragstrip just outside Gainesville, Florida. No! We didn’t ask Chris to jump behind the wheel of powerful Top Fuel or Funny Car dragster, instead the official voice of the NHRA’s newest series title sponsor Camping World had the opportunity to race side by side in a C Class Motorhome.
As he pulled up to the start line alongside his fellow Camping World social media star Ian Baker, RacingJunk’s very own Chris Young had the confidence of one of the most talented NHRA competitors. This confidence continued to show after Chris didn’t let Ian’s holeshot get the best of him, but instead hit the gas and drove around the competition for a winning pass of 16.070 at 67.38 MPH to 16.337 at 67.88 mph, earning one lucky customer a travel trailer from Camping World.
Congrats Chris! You make us very proud. Be sure to check out this race for yourself and share why you think this RacingJunk personality is as cool as we do.
