Pickup wood bed kit supplier Bed Wood and Parts, LLC will expand its Hopkinsville, Ky. with a budget of $3.7 million, more than doubling the size of its plant and increasing its employee count by a factor of eight, for a total of 48 employees. The cost will also cover new equipment for the shop, which will increase to 23,000 feet in size.
“Bed Wood and Parts’ new manufacturing space and equipment allows us to increase our core production capabilities in key areas, provide enhanced operational efficiencies and exceed customer expectations for rapid order fulfillment, better meeting the needs of our customers,” founder and CEO Jeff Major said. “Our team is excited about the growth we are experiencing in Kentucky, and this expansion represents a commitment to continue to build on the success our team has accomplished.”
The aftermarket selection of bed wood has historically been very small, with oak frequently the only option on offer. Bed Wood and Parts, LLC aims to remedy that lack of choice with a broad selection of both domestic and exotic wood bed kits. The company currently offers more than 20 wood species for use in wood beds and liners for trucks, SUVs and station wagons. Online distribution via companies like Wal-Mart and Amazon.com may also be in the works for some Bed Wood and Parts, LLC’s products, including the WoodBone® Tailgate Butcher Block, which fits across truck tailgate interiors.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) granted assistance, in the form of performance-based tax incentives up to $1 million, to Bed Wood and Parts, LLC through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The Kentucky Skills Network may also provide resources, such as no-cost recruitment and job placement services, to the company.
“Bed Wood and Parts exemplifies what we hope small companies in Kentucky achieve with the Commonwealth’s business initiatives,” said Gov. Matt Bevin. “This expansion will see the company grow from a local startup into a recognized go-to source in its industry. The substantial increase in employment also will benefit residents in Christian County. I want to thank Bed Wood and Parts for its commitment to Southwestern Kentucky and to the state.”
If you’ve been looking for a provider of bed wood for that classic truck restoration project sitting in your garage, keep your eye on this company! Their upcoming expansion should help you find what you need in no time.
