20 years! Two decades! That’s how long RacingJunk.com has been in business, and we are celebrating this milestone by looking back at some of the good, bad, ugly and just plain weird things that happened in the race and performance space 20 years ago! Every Thursday, we’ll throw it back to the end of the millenium and check out what 1999 had to offer (aside, of course, from Prince!). Want to share? Tag us with #RJ20Years in your social posts!

20 years ago Ford decided to give it’s SN95 Mustang body style a more futuristic makeover. The SN95 look was the more drastic change from the Fox Body Mustangs that ruled the streets for over a decade. The New Edge wasn’t as drastic as far as change but some of the most iconic Mustangs were produced during the New Edge Era (1999-2004). For example the 1999 Cobra was the Mustang ever to receive an independent rear suspension. Popular New Edge Mustang iterations included the Bullitt, Mach 1, Saleen, Terminator,  and who could forget the iconic 2000 Cobra R developed as a track monster by SVT.

The 1999-2004 Mustangs continue to rule the aftermarket when it comes to availability as well. To get a sense of of some upgrades that are common to New Edge owners check out what our friends over at American Muscle have available.
