In a groundbreaking move for drag racing, the World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) and the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) have announced their first-ever collaboration. This new partnership is set to reshape the sportsman racing landscape by uniting two leading sanctioning bodies to enhance the experience for racers and racing venues nationwide.
The joint effort will see WDRA and IHRA work together to manage sanctioned facilities—overseeing everything from insurance compliance and licensing to organizing dynamic bracket racing programs and events.
“We have a unique opportunity to combine our expertise with IHRA’s resources to benefit our member facilities and provide stability for our bracket racing community,” said WDRA’s Don Scott. “Our focus on member track operations, licensing, and bracket racing perfectly complements IHRA’s new pro racing programs and events. We’re committed to ensuring that IHRA tracks and bracket racers are fully supported because this collaboration is simply good for our sport.”
IHRA’s Darryl Cuttell echoed the enthusiasm, adding, “Both groups share a deep commitment to the tracks and racers. By working together, we’re making our sport better. Each organization brings something unique to the table, and this partnership is a clear step forward.”
Together, WDRA and IHRA now oversee 110 sanctioned facilities and host 15 bracket racing events, laying the groundwork for a more unified and vibrant drag racing community. This collaboration is more than just an agreement—it’s a promise to racers that their passion and dedication will be met with enhanced opportunities and a stronger racing environment.
The partnership is set for immediate implementation, with further announcements expected as both organizations work to create new pathways for member tracks and bracket racers, propelling drag racing into an exciting and inclusive future.
