RacingJunk got a chance to hear about “Scorched” straight from the builders mouths at SEMA 2025.
Trick Rides is known for hard core muscle car creations, and their latest creation, “Scorched” which debuted at SEMA 2025, is no exception. The all-carbon widebody 1969 Mustang. The Yukon, Oklahoma based business, helmed by Jason Engel and Jarrod Morris, put more than 8,000 hours of design, fabrication and assembly into Scorched. It’s the first Mustang restomod of its kind, redefining the possibilities of classic car restoration through state-of-the-art CAD engineering from Brothers Carbon, and constructed from aerospace-grade pre-preg carbon fiber. It sits on a Roadster Shop chassis with independent front suspension and Fox coilovers with a a parallel four-link design paired with Roadster Shop oversized sway bars in the rear.
The Mustang was on display in the TIM Products booth at SEMA, and featured a custom interior with TMI’s all-new high-back seating, which is both comfortable and sleekly modern. Custom AutoMeter gauges, German square-weave carpeting, handcrafted door panels and a bespoke center console are other interior highlights.
“Scorched represents years of innovation and dedication to blend modern performance with classic Mustang heritage,” says Jason Engel, founder of Trick Rides. “We’ve pushed the boundaries in every aspect of this build, from the all-carbon body to a handcrafted interior by TMI Products, and we’re excited to show the world what Trick Rides is capable of.”
Scorched isn’t just a pretty face. A 429 cubic-inch Kaase “Boss Nine” V8 connected to a TREMEC T-56 six-speed manual transmission powers the build, pushing air through a custom exhaust system using Stainless Works headers and MagnaFlow mufflers. Featured in “Sinister Black,” the vehicle also includes flush-mounted front and rear glass, complemented by Ringbrothers billet aluminum door handles, hinges, mirrors and LED taillights.
Three-piece Forgeline wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Force tires give maximum grip and road-holding capability, while Baer Brakes six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers make the stop equal to the go.
“From the incredible partners we’ve chosen to work with to the aerodynamics of the carbon fiber, Scorched is the result of adding modern engineering to a timeless platform,” added Trick Rides co-owner Jarred Morris. “We set out to build a car that not only looks incredible but performs at a level that rivals today’s high-performance machines.”
Scorched will be limited to a production run of 20 examples, with each buyer having the opportunity to customize key details, including the engine and paint color, to make it their own.
