This year has been a strange one for sure. A lot of bad, a lot of sad, but also some good. We wanted to take a look back at the top articles of 2020.
After years of offering some of the best National Hot Rod Association drag racing available, the NHRA is putting one of its own tracks on the auction block. Built in 1975, the Commerce, GA-based Atlanta Dragway began with a red clay strip due to the facility originally being graded out as an airport.
One of NHRA’s most flamboyant professional competitors has died. Shawn Gann, a five-time winner in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ Pro Stock Motorcycle class passed on May 16th, apparently by his own hand. He was 42 years old and hadn’t turned a wheel in anger since the 2017 season.

The NHRA went through a gauntlet of postponements amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the NHRA finally went forward with a revised Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule that restarted with two-consecutive races at the storied Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in Indiana. But not all drivers were enthusiastic about the new plan. Sixteen-time Funny Car world champion and NHRA legend John Force sidelined his four-car team for the restart of the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. The driver of the PEAK BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro SS announced today that John Force Racing will remain sidelined for the 2020 season.
As the 2020 racing season begins to unfold many drivers and fans were left awestruck today after hearing about the passing of racing legend John Andretti. The nephew of Mario Andretti spent the last three years battling colon cancer and after a hard-fought battle passed at the age of 56-years-old.
