The 2024 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series schedule has been revealed, with 21 races spanning from early March through the middle of November. There is plenty of date equity in this selection of races, along with a few TBAs as the sanctioning body firms up its commitments. The schedule was released prior to the 69th annual Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals on the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park drag strip, giving racers and fans the ability to firm up their travel plans for the coming year.
NHRA will make the 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals its season starter for the second consecutive year, featuring the Pep Boys NHRA Top Fuel All Star Callout for the third season, March 7th through the 10th. With all four championship classes on hand to start the year, fans can watch Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle ply their trades at this historic venue. The second stop for the series is its former first race of the season, the 64th Lucas Oil Winternationals, which will take place at In-N-Out burger Pomona Dragstrip the same weekend that winter becomes spring, March 21 to 24.
While their race this year was stated to be its last, Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park has relented and the first weekend of April will see NHRA on track for the 39th time, followed a week later by the 24th NHRA Four-Wide Nationals on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The second four-wide race of the 2024 season will be held April 26 to 28 at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, NC with the 14th annual Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.
The month of May brings two events: the 24th Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance on May 17 to 19 on Chicago’s Route 66 drag strip , followed two weeks later by the 11th annual NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway, scheduled for May 31 to June 2 in Epping, NH. A week later the 23rd annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals are set for Bristol Dragway in Tennessee. There is a TBA eace for June 21 to 23, while NHRA ends the month of June with the 18th Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.
NHRA has reserved three weekends in July for competition, with a TBA race set for July 12 to 14 and the 35th FlavRPac NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Seattle July 19 to 21 and the 36th DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals a week later. Perhaps another western venue will take the much missed place of Bandimere Speedway as the TBA?
The 42nd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals will again be the penultimate race of the “regular” season on August 15 to 18, while the series returns to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Labor Day for the 70th annual Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals August 28 to September 2, again featuring the Pep Boys NHRA Funny Car All Star Callout.
The six races in NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship begin at Maple Grove Raceway outside Reading, PA with the 39th annual Pep Boys NHRA Nationals set for September 12 to 15, followed a week later by the 16th annual Betway NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte, the second race for this circuit. The series will end the month of September in St.Louis, MO with the 13th annual NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway, September 27 to 29.
The final three races include the 39th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex on October 10 to 13, with a traditional Halloween visit, for the second time each year, to Sin City, where the 24th NHRA Nevada Nationals start October 31 and continue through to November 3. The season finale returns to Pomona on November 14 to 17, with the 59th annual In-N-Out Burger NHRA finals on the dragstrip of the same name.
Both nitro classes, Top Fuel and Funny Car will compete in all 21 contests on the schedule, while details on class schedules for Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, as well as specialty series like the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports and Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown will be revealed in the near future, together with the locations of the TBA events listed. All races are, as before, aired exclusively on FOX Sports, with several events on the FOX broadcast network.
