NASCAR is making history once again—this time by taking it to the tarmac at Naval Base Coronado. As part of the U.S. Navy’s 250th anniversary celebration, NASCAR San Diego will debut as a three-day, high-octane street race weekend from June 19-21, 2026. This landmark event will feature the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series—marking the first-ever NASCAR race on an active military installation.
The Cup Series street course race will headline on Sunday, June 21, and is only the second time NASCAR has hosted a street race. Fans can also catch the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on Friday and Xfinity action on Saturday, with full event details and track layout to be announced soon.
“This is a powerful way to honor America’s military and showcase NASCAR’s commitment to innovation,” said Ben Kennedy, EVP of Racing Development. “We’re proud to bring top-tier motorsports to Naval Base Coronado.”
The race course will wind through Naval Air Station North Island, the birthplace of naval aviation, bringing together two American icons: NASCAR and the U.S. Navy. The event pays tribute to the Navy’s values—grit, precision, and service—mirrored in the intensity of racing at 200 mph.
NASCAR San Diego’s official logo features the U.S. Navy’s own F/A-18 Super Hornet and elements representing land, sea, and air—underscoring the Navy’s full-domain operations.
Amy Lupo has been named President of NASCAR San Diego. Known for spearheading bold projects like the Clash at the Coliseum, Lupo’s leadership is expected to elevate this race into a marquee event.
In partnership with Sports San Diego, the weekend is also set to boost local tourism and hospitality. “This race is going to be a massive win for the city,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego. “There’s nothing else like it.”
