Losing racer, race enthusiast and RacingJunk family member Robert “Bobby” Chalmers in July 2025 was a huge blow to the grassroots racing community, particularly in the northeast dirt racing world. Bobby was passionate about racing, and particularly so about DirtCar ProStock, which makes the recent dedication of the recent Old Buzzard 30 race held at Lebanon Valley Speedway on August 23, 2025 even more poignant. The race itself is already held in memory of driver Jimmy Langenback, an effort driven largely by Bobby himself, but through a combination of efforts from the New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA), Lebanon Valley Speedway, Race Pro Weekly and RacingJunk, and the approval of Bobby’s father, Bob, the race also became a tribute to Bobby.
Lebanon Valley was Bobby’s home track, a place where he’d spent time cheering from the stands, advocating for the sport and the community, promoting events and more. 31 cars entered the challenge, and Massachusetts local Frank Twing took home the victory (his second in a row for The Old Buzzard 30), accepting a check with Bobby’s face on it, created by DH Graphix. RacingJunk would like to thank everyone involved in honoring Bobby for this race, including: Cheryl Catman and Frank McKay at the NYSSCA, Jann Ivancic-McGaffin of RaceProWeekly, Scott Stetz at RacingJunk and everyone at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Multiple members of the race community also contributed to the prizes for the race to honor both Bobby and Jimmy Langenback including Danny and Daniel Sanchez, DH Graphix, Robitaille Racing 03
