Kalitta Motorsports, DHL Partner with Feeding America

The Coronavirus pandemic that began in the spring of 2020 and uprooted the world has caused complex issues for people around the globe. Here in the United States, we have lost more than one million citizens to the COVID-19 virus and countless more to the issues surrounding it, specifically supply chain issues that have caused prices to soar for even the most common commodities, like eggs, flour, and milk. Even newborns have been affected, with supply issues in baby formula.

Now, Kalitta Motorsports is teaming with its longtime sponsor DHL to help those severely affected by the pandemic and its surrounding problems, specifically hunger. Working families are those most affected by these issues, as are their children and their elderly relatives. Working with feedingamerica.org, the largest charity working to end hunger in the United States, Kalitta Motorsports is making donations to the ‘Drive For Purpose Challenge’ to help end food insecurity across this country.

During the four upcoming NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship races in both September and October – held at Charlotte and St. Louis in September and Dallas and Las Vegas through October – Kalitta Motorsports intends to donate $1,000 for every win light on race day that Doug Kalitta, Shawn Langdon and J.R. Todd earn as they work to earn the 2022 NHRA Camping World Top Fuel and Funny Car championships. DHL will match each donation with another $1,000, the team and its partner donating the equivalent of 20,000 meals per win light for Feeding America.

“We are proud to partner with a company like DHL that makes it a priority to give back to the local communities across the country and around the world,” Chad Head, Kalitta Motorsports general manager declared. “Feeding America has been doing amazing work for many years and we are hoping every win light we turn on – on race day – will get us closer to ending food insecurity, and help as many people as possible. We hope that everyone in the NHRA community will look to see how they can also help Feeding America as well.”

During the ‘Drive For Purpose Challenge,’ Kalitta Motorsports intends to actively engage within the complete NHRA community, using social media posts, race reports and at-track promotions to enhance support for this charity.

September is a designated Hunger Action Month. Every $1 raised through the ‘Drive For Purpose Challenge’ provides at least 10 meals for people who need food assistance. There were tens of millions of Americans facing hunger even before COVID hit and that’s still true today. It’s estimated that as many as 38 million people, including nearly 12 million children, are food-insecure. They may not know where their next meal is coming from. This equates to one in eight adults and one in six children.

DHL has long supported charities of this nature because they know that supporting hunger relief nationwide connects people and improves lives. This incentive guides all the company’s efforts and operations, underscoring its values and mission to improve society.

Chet Paul, senior vice president, commercial for DHL Express U.S. noted, “Hunger remains a major challenge for so many people, which is why we are pleased to partner with Kalitta Motorsports and Feeding America to support the millions of families facing food insecurity across the country. No one,” he said, “should wonder where their next meal will come from. That’s why helping families and individuals in the communities where we live and work is so essential to the purposeful work we do at DHL, as we aim to connect people and improve lives.”

While the first challenge takes place at the NHRA Charlotte Nationals this weekend at zMAX Dragway outside Charlotte, North Carolina and continues the following week with the NHRA Midwest Nationals on the World Wide Technology Raceway drag strip near St. Louis, Missouri, fans are encouraged to make their own donations to this fund and show that they care.
