By Day three of SEMA 2022, the urge to remain inside abates and despite chilly weather in Las Vegas, crowds are eager to explore the outside, particularly the eBay Motors Experience, including the Hoonigan's Burnyard Bash which recreated the brand's burnyard in California to show of some of the amazing stunts -- burnouts, donuts, spins and tricks -- that the team is known for. Drifting, ride alongs and close ups of the various builds allowed show goers to live the performance lifestyle, even for just a few minutes.
In the Bronze lot of South Hall, three out of five segments of the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) took place, including a new-to SEMA Autocross challenge along with a display of all of the OPTIMA challenge vehicles in competition.
And of course, the featured builds that SEMA is famous for graced the parking lots of the show in front of Central and North Hall.
In industry news, the show awarded more accolades and kudos:
The 2022 SEMA PRO Cup Challenge Award from the Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) went to Automotion Customs for a ’22 Toyota Rav4 XLE package.
Kevin Robinson, president of TRAC LLC, won the Launch Pad competition for TRAC Tire Jack, which nabs him a nearly $100,000 prize package, and of course the support of the aftermarket community in launching a new product.
Photographer Larry Chen was named Influencer of the Year for his work shooting and highlighting the auto industry. This is the first year this award was given, recognizing the huge role that social media and independent coverage plays in advancing the industry.
The show continues to grow in scope and intention, and will be even bigger next year.
