Today’s Cool Car Find is a no-expense-spared 1965 Ford Fairlane Drag & Drive build that’s equal parts brutal race car and long-haul survivor. Listed on RacingJunk for $300,000, this fresh, turnkey machine was constructed by Larry Jeffers Race Cars and engineered specifically for the highest levels of Drag & Drive and Unlimited-class competition.
Underneath the classic Fairlane body sits a full tube chassis with SFI 25.3 double frame rails, designed to handle 3,000-plus horsepower while still surviving real highway miles between tracks. Power comes from an ACE Drag & Drive–specific engine built around a Noonan 427 billet block, topped with CID cylinder heads and force-fed by twin Garrett GTX55 88mm turbochargers. A bulletproof M&M TH400 with lock-up, paired with a Gear Vendors overdrive, keeps the car deadly on the strip and manageable on the road.
FuelTech electronics manage the show, featuring a dual-fuel setup that allows the car to seamlessly switch between E85 or pump gas for the street and methanol for race duty. Add in a Mark Williams rear end, Menscer and Strange suspension components, lightweight racing brakes, and a full carbon-fiber interior, and it’s clear this Fairlane was built with zero compromises.
Despite its extreme performance potential, the car retains true Drag & Drive practicality, including roll-up windows, a passenger seat, a reinforced trailer hitch, massive cooling, and even onboard air for shifters, chutes, and roadside adjustments. Finished in its original body and glass with a show-quality coating, this Fairlane is built to turn heads in the pits and chase overall wins on the leaderboard.
