Pinup Pole Show Pinup of the Week: Tonya Kay with a 1973 Datsun 240Z

This week’s Pinup Pole Show Pinup of the Week is me: the writer of this column, Tonya Kay! I’m posing with Teddy Yonenaka’s 1973 Datsun 240Z, DISCO STATION, photographed by Shane Karns at the event I created and produce, Tonya Kay’s Pinup Pole Show.
I love this set of photos because we captured some magic that evening before the performance. The May Southern California sunset is gentle and lovely, catching some very rare clouds in the Los Angeles sky. Apparently photographer Shane Karns saw the beauty in the clouds, too, because his post-touching really brought out the drama, which is exactly how it felt. Not only were my models lighting up cameras all over at this evening’s event, but a gaggle of other fabulous women in lingerie joined us, to our delight, and you can see we straight up had a dance party while The Centuries played some high vibe, original rockabilly. But what I really like the most was knowing the owner of that Datsun 240z so well, I took every liberty posing with Teddy’s car. I said to myself, “this car is mine and I’ll do whatever I want on it tonight!”
Hehe. That’s a good time.
That Datsun is such a little stinger. A bumble bee. Maybe a hornet. It’s tiny and buzzes here or there before you can blink an eye. Being a classic owner myself, of course I respected the car as a model, but I threw off my shoes and climbed right up on that roof. Look! I’m a giant on this every-man’s sports car! I straddled this V6 without even stretching out first. I even tried sprawling out across the hood, but the slope of these Z’s is more like a slide than a shelf. In fact, if you are wearing a nice dress like I am, it’s more like a slip and slide. My descent from the hood was rapid, to say the least. But so much fun!
Shane and I caught this photo set in less than 10 min of shooting, which speaks to what a joy it is to shoot with someone you’ve shot with regularly. Thank goodness Shane and Teddy trust me. These photos were a lot of fun to create and you can see that in the finals.
Buzz - zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Gotta love the Z!

Tanya you and your pin ups are award winning, Zing for lack of a better word. Makes my day when I see you and your works. Tank you for all you do. More please.
Bob I love hearing from you. You make my day, too.
A nice looking girl, but not sure I’d want anyone lying on my Datto, no matter how nice they look. The back seat perhaps of my 2+2, but not the duco!
Hey Mick. The girl is me, the writer of this column and my name is shared on the Datsun’s title so I asked myself if I was allowed and it and said yes.
Tonya your reply was correct. AMEN
🙂
Tanya, do you ever travel to central Florida? If not please do. I’ll be a sign spinner on the side of road or parking lot for you and your award winning PIN UPS.
Practice up, Bob.
Tonya for me please do shoot with your hot rod and girls for racing Junk.
