Mopar returned to the SEMA Show floor in Las Vegas this year with an electrified vintage build and a slew of RAM Sport truck concepts.
Following its absence from SEMA 2023 due to auto worker’s strike, Stellantis came prepared to showcase eCrates as well as new Mopar options, plus Jeep®, Ram and Dodge vehicles and parts to share with enthusiastic show-goers this year.
The most exciting of these for muscle car fans is the 1967 Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept powered by a conceptual Mopar e-Crate propulsion package. The bright blue beast is the perfect showcase for Mopar’s foray into an e-Crate propulsion package in a vintage vehicle, something they hope will take off with enthusiasts. The GTX rides on a built on a lowered three-link suspension, and features widened the rear-wheel openings, custom-shaved, body-color bumpers and several nods to the original GTX including the stripes on the one-off, custom carbon-fiber hood with dual functional air extractors.
Further customization was done with the powerplant and battery placement (three packs in the trunk and one under the hood and behind the grille for better weight distribution) are all designed to enhance the look and capability, ease of maintenance and more creating a resto mod that offers approximately 335 horsepower and torque to the rear wheels runs through a 3:1 gear reducer with an estimated 250 mile driving range. Custom interior, including gauges, steering wheel an door panels enhance the modern feel while seats taken from a Jeep Wrangler allow for access to the back seat. It’s a classic turned modern in all ways and Stellantis/MOPAR are hoping that the muscle car enthusiast will take it for the concept it is and pop that e-crate into a number of vintage bodies.
In addition, the South Hall space showed off a variety of new RAM Sport concept trucks sporting Mopar options, including: the Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept featuring a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 powerplant designed for weekend adventures and daily commuting and a Moparized Ram 1500 RHO which let the design team play with bold graphics.
And of course, a few Jeeps were in that mix:
- Jeep Low Down Concept
- Jeep Willys Dispatcher Concept
- Jeep Gladiator Rubicon High Top Concept
- Jeep Vacationeer Concept
Last but not least, the Mopar “Power-Couple” – a Ram REV pulling a modified version of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee concept.
