Default 2005 Ford F250

What do you think is a true sale price for a 2005, F250, 2 wheel drive, Crew Cab (4door like an extended cab not the 4 door Super Crew cab), 6.0 diesel, automatic with only 80,000 miles, new tires?
Truck has never been in the shop for any kind of repairs.
It is as clean as a brand new truck. None smoker owned.

It belongs to my dad and I was thinking about buying it to resale. Trade in they'll only give him $10,000. If I can sell it for $12,500 to $13,500 I don't mind tying up my money for a month or two, but it's not worth it if I can't make at least that. I'll have some cost in it like insurance, tag, title swap, etc.

my buddy just sold his loaded 99 f250 with 140k on it for 14,500 here in NY

Hey Rabbit, I done a NADA search on your dads truck. Clean retail on his truck is about 18K. Rought trade-in is about 12K. If they are only offering 10K I'd tell them to go pound sand in thier azz. Clean trade-in is $14,500.
Sounds like this is a real nice truck, I wouldn't take no less than $13,500. JMO.

Its worth a hell of a lot more than $10K! Heres the Kelly Blue Book numbers and I didnt add any options except the diesel, auto trans and AC

Trust me I know. I looked it up, but I also know it's only worth what you can sell it for. It's a done deal as far as me buying it for $10,000 IF I want it. If not my Dad IS gonna trade it.
If it were a Chevy Duramax I'd buy it, keep it and sell mine . My 2500 has 212,000+ miles on it and I'd rather keep it than the Ford because of the 6.0 oil cooler, head bolt issues.
This truck has had the oil changed every 3,000 miles and never had a single problem with anything. My dad isn't going to drive any vehicle much past 75,000 miles no matter what it is. He's not real happy with the DEF stuff all the new trucks have to have or he would have traded this one last year.

I just want to buy it and sell and make a little money. Not trying to make a bunch and not trying to sell a truck that has ANY problems, but I don't want to loose any $ either.

well crap, buy it for $10K and flip it then, you can make a couple grand easy on that deal if you are just a little patient. I live in truck country and the farmers buy up trucks like that all day!

A couple of things to keep in mind. You are going to have to sell it private party meaning if the buyer doesn't have cash they will have to borrow money. It's a lot easier for a car lot to arrange financing than an individual. The interest on that type of loan is going to be higher than if they go to a lot and have good credit and most people consider what the payment will be not the price of the truck. The 6.0 truck isn't nearly as good as the older 7.3 trucks, they had a lot of engine issues with the 6.0. If it's never been in the shop for repairs then it doesn't have the upgraded head gaskets and studs. It sounds like that truck is a super cab not a crew cab and there's about 2K difference in price, of course the crew cab is worth more. As far as NADA price the trim level and options will make a huge difference in the truck's value. a XL without any options will be a lot less money than a King Ranch that's loaded up. On a new truck there can be an easy 10-15K difference in options. If it were me I would see what NADA says the truck is worth for a clean trade in but you need to take all the options and trim into account when you do. Then negotiate with the dealer, they always have room to improve a deal. The last thing to consider is this, the dealer has a better idea of what's moving and what it's worth. There might not be much to be made on it.

Yes, it's a Super Cab, XLT. No it's never had the head stud, oil cooler upgrades. He did put the Edge guage assy. Not a programmer, just the guage set. About $400

NADA
Clean Trade in is $15,075
Clean Retail is $18,575

I think the Ford dealer was trying to screw my Dad pretty bad. Good thing for me he doesn't care. He told me I could buy it for their trade offer and he knows I'm gonna re-sell it and make a profit.
It's not like my Dad needs the few extra $ I'm gonna make nor is he gonna waste his time trying to sell it himself.
If it weren't for people being scared of the 6.0 I would have already bought it. I'm just having a real hard time thinking about buying a Ford as an investment. Just goes against my heart. lol
