Default 1/8 time 60ft time

I have a 68 camaro about 3400lbs(not gutted it's a street/strip car) with a 383,glide-3700st, and 411 w/spool 12 bolt. The motor Dynoed at 100% Humidity 550hp 548tq on TT114(15.5 to 1 with shaved heads). The car runs 7.00-7.19 in the 1/8 depending on temperature 80-100 degrees. The 60ft times are horrible 1.67-1.72 my final speed in 1/8 is106.8mph. I want to know why my 60ft times are so bad, the track is Paradise Drag Strip in Calhoun Georgia. The track is slightly uphill i found out the other day and is only prepped every two weeks I think or with major events-could these things be my problem. oh yea what should the car run in the 1/4?

Kingkenny383 I don't know what your problem is but I run the numbers for you.

60' of 1.67 = [email protected] 110mph 1/4

7.00 on 1/8 = [email protected] 119 1/4

106 on 1/8 = [email protected] 130 1/4

So as you can see the numbers are not close so maybe something like your converter is a little to loose an need a little more gear in the rear. JMO.

With a 2800st i ran a 7.51-7.63 with the 3400-3700 i run the 7.00-7.19 times. If i switched to 456 gears would i be in the 6.80-6.95 range you think. I get skunked facing 7.0 cars the first 2/3 of the track, but fly by them at the end. Is a 4400st still somewhat streetable or will it tear up with street driving. I have almost as much in converters as I do in my Godly Glide, thinking about just using a 150 shot of nos to pick my overall time up instead of gears or converters do yall think that would be better?

The 150 shot would put you around the 6.60 to 6.70 range or maybe a little better. I have run 4000 stall behind a small block on the street with no problems. I think if you went with a 4.56 gear you would run in the 6.90's.

Sounds like to me it is spinning badly. I run 104-107MPH and run 6.30-6.50's with 60' down in the 1.30's..(But I have a big stall 6000)
Still I think you are having either traction issue's or suspension issue's?..
If it was the converter I would think the MPH wouldn't be there.
What suspension do you have in the rear? Also 3400Lbs is heavy for a glide.. Also with track prep that few and far between I can see major traction issue's..Go to another track and see what it does there..

What cam, cam timing, ignition timing, carb... 383 with that
hp may want more converter. Where was peak torque/HP?

As for your last question, Pages 2 and 3 of my site contain spreadsheets for estimation of eighth and quarter mile performance. Go to the eighth spreadsheet and input everything for your car. Then, adjust the rear wheel horsepower until you get the speed correct. (Don't worry about the ET. It will be a bit off. The program simply can't take into account all the variables involved when it comes to ET.) Then, plug everything into the quarter mile spreadsheet. You might have to change axle ratio to prevent over-revving.

You have no where near enough gear or converter to use a glide with that power. Option A is to put a 3 speed and go faster. Option B is more gear and same tranny and converter and go a little faster, Option C is to put more converter and gear and go a lot faster. I went from a 4500 to a 5500 in a heavy glide car and picked up 3 tenths first pass.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have not gone to another track yet because the car is not tech legal at most tracks. At paradise you don't have to have a cage till 6.60 and i've been sceptical of putting a cage in a totally uncut car, but it has everything else that's required. I'm not a 3spd fan i Like the glide and it is a godly performance glide. The car does not spin i'm running m/t et streets, but it's lazy the first 1/3 of the track it seems. The motor was originally a super late model cheater motor,cam has 106 or 108 lobe seperation can't remember with .639int/.640exh mechanical roller, i also had the cam ground to match the glide. The timing is 36degrees,750flowing more been totally machined, Hp was @6212 [email protected], 4340 forged crank,carillo light weight rods, wiseco light weight pistons,pro action heads w/shaft rockers, hhv intake it has some pretty good stuff in it. With the 2400-2700st i ran 60ft 2.017([email protected]) with 3400-3700 I ran 60ft 1.614([email protected]). I picked up more than i thought when I changed it, i guess a bigger st would be a good choice then.

The rear shocks are QA1 Carreras and flapper bars, up front lakewood 90/10 with moroso trick springs(need to be adjusted leans 1.5 to 2inches to the left)
