trans rebuild and lost 4 mph and a .10?
i have a denenbear proglide with 1.80 gearset. car would not go into reverse. had it rebuild. trans builder replaced the band and had to do some machince work on the pump. dont know much about trans myself so i had a "professional" race shop do it. now the car is down on mph and about a .10. car ran 9.13 at only 143. any ideas thanks mike

Not trying to make this a stupid question but see it a lot.... did you check the trans fluid once you got things warmed up? I have seen it where guys stick fluid in and never check it after they fire the car back up.
Did he add clutches or change anything in that manner?

If he did machine work sound like he my have added more clutches. More clutches hold tighter and last longer but seem to create more drag. Also tight clutch clearances (new) will have more drag than lose ( wore out ) clutches

fluid level is good. i actually slightly overfill it than drain the overflow for the fist few passes. i thing i forgot to mention is the motor is going though the traps about 400 rpms higher than it did before. as far as cluthes and such? let i said had a shop do it. i should call and ask him.

That is odd. That is something I haven't seen. If the clearances are too tight, then it should not be gaining that rpm but getting a lot of additional heat in the trans.
When did the car lose reverse? After a burnout or found it after making a pass?

was having problem for a bit i would hit transbrake and it sometimes wouldnt go back. put a fresh motor in it and broke it in on gas on the dyno. after 35 pulls on gas and 5 on alcohol, went to load car in trailer and no reverse at all. thats when i had it freshen.

So you didn't run the new motor with the trans? Depending on what you changed, that potentially could explain the RPM spike and or the ET loss. You may not be missing something in the trans but very well could be missing something with the motor. You have changed a lot of things at 1 time.
Go back to the motor 1st. Recheck your timing, recheck your valves and check the plugs for a reading if you have not done so yet.
