Ok first of all i want everyone to understand i am netural, i don't know either party, I just talked with Scott on the phone, he has tried to post pics of this vette in question, He stated his wife had surgery right before trading for this car, on the way down she got sick, when he arrived, he was on the phone with her Dr, someone unloaded the 67 chevelle, and loaded the vette, he did put one strap on the car before leaving, after getting home, some vette owners came over to look at the car, it has a 65 front end, not a 64, it has a raditor cap a 64 doesn't, it has a over flow tank, the front bumper is bolted to the fiberglass front end, instead of frame, not metal front end, alt is on the wrong side, wrong engine in car, has had frame patched, raditor support not bolted in, he is going to send pics to my e-mail if anyone want's them just pm me your e-mail address, he has tried to post them but doesn't know how. He is upset, not cursing just upset because [ he say's ] the car isn't what it was described to be. he was very nice to me other than being upset!!PLEASE DON'T KILL THE MESSENGER :!: :!: :!:

mopar1968 thanks for taking the time and being "Neutral" and helping figure out what i was doing wrong with this post. Most of the others here have been fast to say(racefan55) that maybe I'm friends with the shop owner!
get real, if i had a friend that was a specialist in vettes dont you think i would have used his knowledge and never bought the car? You fast to point out my faults but no once questions Ray!!! Sounds like your quick to judge and just protect the good ole boy from NC. Again, thanks Mopar1968 for talking to me and actually the first to keep a neutral position about this.
I will send pics tonight to him so he can see what is up with the car.

Honestly you cant complain when you went in person to pick-up the car. That your wife was sick, is unfortunate, that you chose not to look at the car is unfortunate as well. But,

You had the CHOICE to not make the deal and you did- that anything is wrong is no longer the seller's fault. If you took him to court you would win nothing because you inspected the car, or chose not to.

The seller has no obligation to you nor does he have any obligation to anyone you choose to sell the car to.

His involvement ended when you came in person, inspected the car and agreed to make a trade. If I were him I wouldnt be talking to your buyers either - I doubt he gave you a "lifetime'warranty" on the car. Why does he need to speak to your buyers on a car that he sold and no longer owned and that you inspected? representation of that car is on you as the owner-not the previous owner.

BTW- on a mid-year vette difference in the front between 64 and 65 are the side panels (65 and 66 are same), hood one year only with script on hood and no scallops (63 and 64 are same except for chrome inserts) and the grill which is one year only.

Should you elect to change the incorrect stuff- use sermersheims for the correct coded press-molded fiberglass and corvette central for the grill.

But in the end badstage1, you need to let go of the anger towards the seller- if you want to be angry-be angry at yourself for making the deal.

no you dont know whats going on, guy is full of s and got all his croneys trying to make him look good. What proof do you need? most people messaging me don't want to get involved just want to tell their story about him because i will listen. I can give you the restoration shops name,(D&B CORVETTES) his web address(www.dbcorvettes.com) and phone (419-682-1617) the frame has had shitty frame repair at the kick ups, car has a 65 front end not a 64!!! The guy who wanted to buy it from me in florida texted ray yesterday asking him about car and ray gave no response. Now that you call me full of s show me you can follow up with this info and then tell me i have no evidence!!!!!!
If you truely want to find the truth, follow this and then i can send exact photos of these spots. I havent gone back to forum because ray has his friends trying to defend his s...i dont need to ask my friends to come to my rescue!! proof is in the pudding, run with the info provided or i guess take your own advice

badstage1-

here is the link from your racespace with the black vette-

http://www.racingjunk.com/gallery/profile/239371/186595

In your email to mopar you said the front end is wrong- I restored a BB 1965 Vette- So you understand- The hood surround is same in 63-67, the lower marker panels are as well, same for the wheel opening lips- the only difference is the side panels ahead of the doors- 63 and 64 are same and horizontal "vents", 65 and 66 are same and vertical vents, 67 is small vent and stand alone.

The front end vents on your car fully appear to be vertical and would denote 1965 vette. So based on your posted pics, thats a 65 front end and contrary to your quoted statement above.

As I noted in my earlier post 65 grill is stand alone as is hood.

Technically the front end on that car looks correct 65- A 65 hood can run close to $450 used and the 65 grill can approach $400 repop as well, as it is not cast but aluminum with a black center.

Like I said I restored a frame off 65 BB 396 car nut and bolt numbers match, and dealt with every vette guy on the east coast and know these cars well- that front end does not look incorrect based on your pics.

this post says it all!! i agree 100 percent!!

as far as badstage, you really dont need to be trading on this site! grown men dont cry about trades, you just move on! you obviously dont trade very much! if you did you would know that you dont listen to what everyone else thinks as far as "how your trade went" i never said you were friends with the shop owner, i only pointed out that you cant listen to what others think of your trade, your a grown man, you made the trade, you went and inspected the car and you took it home!!

ONE MORE THING THAT YOUR NOT TELLING PEOPLE, IF YOUR WIFE WAS THAT SICK, WHY DID YOU STOP AT LAKESIDE CLASSICS IN LAKE NORMAN NC AFTER YOU LEFT RAYS HOUSE AND TRY TO WORK A TRADE ON THE VETTE WITH THEM??

come on dude, seriously this is enough, your making yourself look really bad!! and if you dont want the vette, i got a very sweet 48 anglia that has a shit load of stuff done to it, its bad as hell, ill give it and something esle for the vette..

Well said racefan & Scorp.

This is at the top of the list for complete sillyness. Lets see.... I will try to put myself in badstage's shoes.

I am mad that I made a trade that I agreed to for one of the most desirable American classic's the world has to offer.... in good working condition. Next, I am going to COMPLAIN about it to whoever will listen. I admit that I agreed to do the trade at the time, but want to reverse it after 5 MONTHS. When people say that I am not being rational, I will create new threads in the same place & re-address the same problem in hopes that I will get a different reaction. Finnally, when everyone says it is a great car & the trade seemed fair (if not great) I will continue to WHINE.

Is that about right???? Badstage: I am starting to think you have a HIDDEN AGENDA. This is SILLY. What is your REAL CONCERN HERE??? Quit peeking at the thread as if you were some innocent bystander who got robbed & man up with what is really going on or go CRY to someone else.

I can think of MANY people who would love to have a car like that (Including myself). I am finding it hard to feel sorry for you.... especially when we are in this economy & some people can't even afford to keep food on thier table & you are WHINING about your 65 VETTE???? WTH???

badstage1-

looked at your pics- Frame is a definite cobjob. There are certainly things wrong- However it is a midyear vette. If you switched the frame out on that car much of what is bothering you would be fixed- a frame on any 63-78 vette will work although the 68-78 will require some slight modifying of the body mounts.

Invest the money in a frame- I would think you would find a roller for less than $3000 if you look hard. Restore the frame and swap the body, and then deal with the other stuff- you can get all parts.

If you are into the car for around $25-$30K, you could still put another $10k in that car make it nice and get out of it.

You can make it right to yourself with some effort-and you will be able to sleep at night.

But what you must stop doing is bashing the seller- you looked at it, made the deal, and then waited an extended period to complain. Game over in that respect. Let it go stop and blaming the seller.

You have a project ahead of you, but I would make it fun, get that car squared away and then either enjoy it or sell it- Like I said I restored a basket case midyear and you can get every part and everything fits right. Corvette guys are a pain- the repop stuff has to or they will whine till the end of time.

Corvette Carlisle is at the end of August in PA- a Great show and a good time to start your project.
