I ENDED UP BUYING THE N O S PANELS, AND THEY FIT GREAT, IF YOU NEED TO USE AFTERMARKET PANELS YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF CUTTING OUT ONLY THE PART OF THE PANEL YOU NEED AND BUTT WELD IT IN RATHER THAN TRYING TO GET THE WHOLE PANEL TO FIT, I HAD A REPLACEMENT FLOOR PAN SECTION THAT WHEN MEASURED UP ALSO WOULD NOT HAVE FIT RITE, CUT ONLY THE BAD PART OUT AND USED IT AS A TEMPLATE TO CUT OUT OF THE REPLACEMENT , BUTT WELDED IN AND MADE A PERFECT REPAIR.

You did the right thing, these cars are getting hard to find, mine rolled out of the paint booth Dec. 24th, 1988, and still looks like the day it rolled out. Fortunately it was an Az. car and had never seen salt or snow, and still has the factory undercoating on it. I've owned it for 22 yrs. and wouldn't sell it for any reason. You will be happy when it's finished right.

Good move as you can see from my avatar i have a 1980 Malibu, back halfed 4 link car certified to 8.50, it's ever bit as clean as my 79 Elky inside and out, neither one has ever seen an inch of rust. I once towed my Malibu too the track with my Elky, you wouldn't believe the eyes that they caught on the freeway.
Good luck on your project and they are well worth the effort.

Around here You WILL NOT find good doors for those cars.( El Camino like Zips) There aint any. Very hard to find as they all rust out. A friend of mine's rotted out up by the rear view mirror even.

YEA TOD, UP HERE IN THE MIDWEST ITS HARD TO FIND ANYTHING THAT ISN'T ALL RUSTED. I HAVE LOOKED AT MORE MALIBUS THAT WERE SUPPOSE TO BE RUST FREE THAT TURNED OUT TO PATCHED UP RUST BUCKETS WITH BAD FRAMES. I HAVE A COUSIN IN AZ THAT IS LOOKING FOR A GOOD ONE FOR ME. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFULL ABOUT CARS FROM THERE TOO. MY COUSIN HAS LOOKED AT TWO FOR ME THAT WERE RUSTY UNDERNEATH , LOOKED LIKE THEY MUST HAVE CAME FROM PEOPLE THAT MOVED FROM THE MIDWEST. (THESE WERE ON EBAY)
