Default The endless loop of deleting and redownloading dating apps every three weeks.

Does anyone else feel like dating apps are turning into a literal part-time job that pays zero salary and ruins your weekends? I caught myself mindlessly swiping last night while watching a movie, felt a wave of profound emptiness, deleted all three apps, and swore I was done forever. This is the fourth time I've done this this year. How do people actually maintain the energy to keep introducing themselves to strangers over and over again without losing their minds?

Honestly, I think a lot of people can relate to this. Dating apps can start feeling less like a way to meet people and more like another task on your weekly to-do list. Taking a break doesn't necessarily mean giving up on dating; sometimes it just means protecting your energy and resetting your expectations. I’ve found it helps to set limits rather than swipe whenever there’s a spare moment. Focusing on fewer conversations can also make interactions feel more genuine instead of repetitive. There are still other ways to meet people, both online and offline. If you’re exploring different approaches to dating the important thing is finding something that feels enjoyable rather than exhausting.

Spot on. Dating app fatigue is a recognized phenomenon now. The illusion of infinite choice destroys our ability to invest in actual human beings because there’s always a supposed better option one swipe away. My advice? Get off the apps entirely for six months. Join a local club, take a pottery class, go to a book group—anything where human interaction happens organically without a swipe-left button hovering in the background.
