This 1979 FJ40 has been our family’s summer rig for years, but it’s time to find her a new home to make room in our garage.
She’s been used for countless drives to the lake w/ fishing rods and nets in the back. Kids in the back eating their Ice cream before it melts. Drive-ins after dark. Car shows, parades, and those aimless evening drives as the sun sets that somehow become the ones you remember.
It turns head and receives thumbs ups everywhere it goes. And every time the key is turned in the ignition, it feels like you’re transported back to a simpler time — with the low rumble of the 4.2L engine, the smell of the exhaust, the kids being kids in the back seat, classic rock playing over the speaker - allowing the day to stretch out the way summers used to.
It’s finished in durable Anvil Gray Raptor Liner inside and out, and it looks nothing like a stock FJ40. The interior has been overhauled from top to bottom, the stance is taller and wider, the lights are brighter, the music plays louder, and the seats hug you tighter. Yet at the heart of it is still original: the factory chassis, the timeless, classic 2F 4.2L inline-six, and the analog 4-speed manual transmission.
Located in Franklin, TN (near Leiper’s Fork).
